Not all Microdermabrasion Machines are equal:
There are 2 types of Microdermabrasion
Diamond VS Crystal... What’s the difference?

CRYSTAL microdermabrasion involves the use of a special hand held device that propels a high speed flow of aluminium oxide crystals (most commonly used also there are a small number of machines that claim to use some sort of organic matter) onto the skin. At the same time, the machines vacuum system sucks away dirt, dead cells and most of the used crystals (alot do remain and need to be dusted off the treated area). We choose not to use this type of machine due to the lack of information and evidence behind the safety to inhale the aluminium (questionable link to alzymers disease) or organic crystals, we want our clients and therapists to be safe at all times and with the controversy related to this we choose a system which does not use any of these questionable crystals.

DIAMOND microdermabrasion system replaces the micro crystal flow with a diamond tip wand. Areas closer to the eyes and mouth (usally our main concern areas) can be abraded more accurately with diamond tip with no risk of stray crystals causing damage or being ingested.

We don’t just use Microdermabrasion like most others...

Microdermabrasion perfectly prepares the skin by giving it an intense exfoliation, therefore the skin is ready for some ultacare and product infusion. This is where we step up the results and the relaxation and use Sonophoresis to enhanced infusion of active ingredients.

What is Sonophoresis and how does it work?

Sonophoresis causes small spaces to open between the skin cells using soundwaves for increased penetration of ingredients applied to the skin. It can be used after having microdermabrasion, peels or facials.

Disruption of the lipid barrier by the ultrasonic vibration delivers an intense amount of active ingredients, giving you longer lasting results and intense hydration.

The skins protection barrier is compromised of many elements, mostly lipids, which work to keep things out of the skin. Sonophoresis increases the absorption by up to 1000 times. Little pockets or bubbles, caused from the soundwaves form within the lipids, these are filled with product before they quickly close again. The next wave arrives pushing the bubble deeper down into the skin layers.

What ingredients will we infuse into your skin?

The ingredients that we infuse into the skin using the Sonophoresis depends on your skin type and concerns. Products that we will be using will contain lots of hylauronic acid for hydration and lots and vitamins such as A, B, C and E to feed and nourish the skin.

How long does the Micro + Sono treatment take and what is involved?

The treatment will take approximately 50 minutes; this includes a general cleanse followed by a deeper cleanse with our Sonophersis equipment, a Woodslamp skin analysis with your trained Beauty Coach then a targeted treatment with our Diamond Microdermabrasion Machine will begin. A soothing application of a concentrated cocktail of active ingredients selected for your skin type and concerns will be infused deep into your skin with the relaxing application of our hand held Sonophoresis applicator. We may also recommend a specialised mask be applied at this point to further enhance results. Our exceptional unique tailored treatment is safe and relaxing. We promise to deliver brilliant results.

Can I treat other areas of concern?

Yes, there are many areas of the body that may benefit from Microdermabrasion. The most common are the face, neck, chest, back and hands.

Did you say special occasion?

Yes Micro + Sono is fantastic a few days or the day before a special occasion as it gives your skin a very smooth canvas for makeup application along with a radiant glow. However for ultimate results we recommend a course of treatments so your skin can get maximum results!

What can I expect from my first treatment of microdermabrasion?

Straight after your treatment your skin may be smooth and warm to touch, as the circulation has been increases to the skin it may also appear flushed and slightly red. You will notice an immediate visible result straight after your first treatment, an improvement in the skins texture, reduced blackheads, fresher more even skin tone and a radiant glow.

How often should you have a treatment course of microdermabrasion?

You can most defiantly have more than one treatment course a year. Whenever you feel that your skin needs a good pick me up or maybe in the winter months when our skin tends to be a little dull. Your therapist can recommend when you should have your next course.

Peels and Microdermabrasion? (match made in heaven!)

Having a peel before or after a Microdermabrasion treatment can be highly effective. We may recommend one depending on you skin type and concerns. The peels we may recommend will be superficial peels like a 20% lactic acid peel which will penetrate the skin a lot deeper after the Microdermabrasion and deliver exceptional hydration results. We also may recommend a Vitamin A infusion which will help stimulate new skin cells to the surface so your face has an amazing glow, to break down any underlying congestion, treat acne, breakup the pigmentation party and help with all signs of ageing like wrinkles and dehydration.

Are there any precautions that I must take while undergoing a Microdermabrasion treatment?

  • Waxing is not recommended on the area to be treated on the same day. It also depends on the strength of the treatment and we usually recommend to wait 7 days after the procedure.
  • We recommend that you refrain from any cosmetic procedures such as anti wrinkle injections and dermal fillers for at least 7 days prior and 7 days after (unless discussed with your Beauty Coach).
  • We strongly advise against the use of sun beds, and if you must please do not expose the area treated to the damaging rays of the sun without sun protection.
  • The day of your treatment and for a few days after we advise to reframe from anything that will increase the skin temperature examples include hot showers, saunas, baths, and hot tubs, extreme exercise and swimming in heavy chlorinated water.

Maintenance

Whilst results are achieved with a single treatment, it is unrealistic to expect significant change. Having a treatment course with as little as 6 treatments will show great results but needs to be maintained monthly.

Homecare

Regular Microdermabrasion treatments offer exceptional opportunities for skin., with an increase in penetration of homecare serums and creams. Up to 4-5 times more than skin not treated with Microdermabrasion. Your highly trained therapist will recommend a skin care maintenance program for you which will include appropriate sun protection and skin treatments.

Are our therapists trained?

Our therapists are not only trained to give you a fantastic Microdermabrasion treatment, they are also trained to educate you about how to look after your skin after your session and to meet appropriate standards of hygiene and client safety.
